Kapil's Advice on Thursday, April 28, 2011 :

Web Design process is all about designing the sites,: the web pages. The site look and feel and the actual branding.

When your are designing a static site (where there is no dynamic data) then HTML+CSS+Javascript will do. But when the site needs to display the dynamic data comes from external files, database then you need extra.

If you are excellent anything you do you can have a career. But Web site design is not just about making few pages. It is the face of a company it is all about branding. Web Designing is a very vast field of its own with lot of innovative requirements.

- There is lot about branding , color scheme, desiging visually appealing pages, menus (javascript, Jquery) - that is lot of difficult programming.

- There is also lot about Search fundamentals (SEO) , landing page optimization LPO , making sure your site is among top searchable in popular engines and fast loading pages for good user experience.

- There is also lot work Navigation scheme, links, allowing users to access information from site in minimum possible clicks.

So to answer your question,

Web designing has a great future only if you learn all this nuances and fundamentals of what we are trying to solve by Web designing and become a master of it. But if think it of some easy mechanical no-brainer thing which can be done using WYSIWYG tool which even a child can do, then there is NO future.
