Dinesh,

Good to see you are trying to get into fields different from others.  There may not be institutional courses in search. But there are many courses in Search engine optimization. If you just do some googling you will come across many such online courses and collages teaching you Search engine Optimization (SEO) which teaches you how to optimize the web site design  for higher ranking among the popular Search engines.

Search algorithms as such is very specialized field. There could be course to teach you basics but adavcnce
Search usually means retrieving information from unstructured text like web sites, documents which has been locked. Current searches have been based on free-text search or metadata search. Google search has been free text search using the technique of search indexing. It has large File cluster to maintain such indexes and retrieve such results very fast.
With ever increasing data and information, google search has now been retrieving million pages. And finding the information in such large result-set is getting more tedious.
Now the increasing trend has been to return more relevant searches in first few pages.  Or Companies want to pay for getting their name listed in top 10 searches. SEO teaches you to acheive it.

New search engines are coming which will be able to retrieve text based on contextual meaning and thus retrieve lesser and accurate results.

But all these are fields of research and algorithm improvement and no courses may be available for them. But self-study and research to make new and better algorithmn has to be done by yourself.

I would also recommend a copy of Algorithms of the Intelligent Web (manning publication).  It has some great content of interest to you specifically related to search algorithms.
