Adobe dies on Mobile while Microsoft is still silent about Silverlight

Adobe announced that it will discontinue the development of Flash in Mobile applications and they are moving to HTML 5 http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2011/11/flash-focus.html . HTML 5 good, but i am still worried that people are still comparing it to Silverlight even if it has not yet been fully released.  I might be looking at this issue in a Different angle, but come on guys, Javascript cannot do better than C# and C# cannot do better than C++.

HTML5 is 10 years far behind Silverlight. There are many things that Silverlight does and that HTML 5 cannot do. HTML5 is still HTML and nothing else. If you go to the Net you will see comments of people saying that HTML 5 can render videos better than Silverlight. I don't want to get involved in arguments about that, but the point here is that not everyone will build "Video Streaming applications" in fact in my career i have never done an application that will require me to show a video, i just use that for my personal site. This is the only thing they mention when these kind of arguments erupt.

Microsoft is still silent about the roadmap of Silverlight and there are many rumours that are even published in big Techs news sites. The rumour says that Silverlight 5 might be the last release of Silverlight. Let us sit back and watch, i am going to smile or Cry after the Announcements.

I will still post if Microsoft Kill my Favourite Technology and i will still post when it is announced that Silverlight still live's  on.

Thanks

I think HTML 5 can do much more than just playing Videos.

Canvas is awesome and you can create any kind of graphics and even save it on the server.
Local storage is another thing that you can do.
Geo-location is one more thing that interests me and a lot more improvements are coming.

HTML 5 with CSS3 is awesome and the real hero is still to come.

Thanks

Hi Sheo

Thanks for the response. All that you are mentioning is cosmetics that Silverlight already have. I don't see anyone talking about Business Applications done in HTML 5 . It seems like everyone is talking about the same thing, cosmetics.

Awaiting for your comment.

Hmm, cosmetics??

Of course cosmetics changes are there but business applications can also be done. See the power of javascript when you try to build a canvas in HTML 5 using it. jQuery is not powerful and easy enough to fetch data from server and populate in Grid. All those enhancements and future improvement will certainly achieve almost everything that Silverlight is doing right now.

JavaScript is now more than just a means of validating form and giving alert on the web pages now. jQuery has changed the way people used to look at JavaScript.

However it is my personal view :)

hi Sheo

I like what you said

All those enhancements and future improvement will certainly achieve almost everything that Silverlight is doing right now.

The problem is that people want to replace something that works with something that is not yet ready.

Thanks

:DDDDD

I understand from where you are coming ;)

By the way, read my first article on HTML 5 http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/article1662-saving-html-5-canvas-as-image-on-the-server-using-aspnet.aspx
