3 tier architecture has the database, business logic and UI in three different projects attach to a solution
And in 3 layered architecture the database , business logic and UI are in three different files in same project

Thanks and Regards,

3-Layered Architecture means Presentation Logic, Business Logic, Data Base Logic DLL's are 3 Projects Outputs that resides under on same machine which are Logically Separated.

3-Tier Architecture means Presentation Logic, Business logic and DataBase Logic which are physically separated, means resides on different machines i.e Presentation (UI On Client Side), Logic on (On Application Server), and DataBAse Server
