were the windows applications suppot authentication mechanism? [Resolved]

hi all,

i am little bit confusing with the authentication techniques used in web(asp.net(windows,forms,passport) )and windows applications authentication can we provide authentication for windows applications or not if it is how to do plz reply me?

no we can't apply all these authentication techniques to windows applications
we can use windows authentication or user identity authentication for windows application

hi Rajesh ,
we often use windows and forms authentication in our applications.
Forms authentication:
i think you had good idea on forms authentication i.e we will assign a username and password to every user and when ever he login's ,we will check his credentials with our database
forms authentication is mostly used for internet applications
Windows authentication:
Windows authentication is designed for intranet application i.e ab application which is designed for an internal users , it will work with the windows system credentials we use interfaces like iprinciple and iidentity for authentication and it is simple than forms authentication

soon i write a small article on this for our better understanding

i have a small doubt in webapplications we use three kinds(windows,forms,paasport) of authentication techniques then what about windows applications can we also apply these 3 techniques ?
