Is there any difference between Image tag and Figure tag .If yes Kindly brief it

The <img> element is used to display an image such as a photograph or illustration.
It includes a link to the image file, which is typically a .jpg, .png or .gif. Most of the photos you see on a web page use <img>.
Others may be displayed as background images using CSS.



The <figure> element is used as a container to hold an image, graph or other illustration.
We could just as easily enclose such an image in a div or paragraph element, but figure is a semantic element that lets the browser know that this section contains content that need not appear directly in the document flow.
Consider a research paper that includes charts to illustrate data. We would use <figure> for those sorts of images. Note: in that case we would have an <img> inside <figure>. <img> would be used to display the image within <figure>.

The <img> tag defines an image in an HTML page. The <img> tag has two required attributes: src and alt. Note: Images are not technically inserted into an HTML page, images are linked to HTML pages. The <img> tag creates a holding space for the referenced image.


HTML 5 <figure> Tag. The HTML <figure> tag is used for annotating illustrations, diagrams, photos, code listings, etc. You can use the <figure> element to associate a caption together with some embedded content, such as a graphic or video.
