Dear Chamu,
We have already written a couple of articles at DNF.

a) The Art of Stored Procedure Optimization - Part 1 [ http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/show/3255/the-art-of-stored-procedure-optimization-part-1 ]

b) The Art of Stored Procedure Optimization - Last but not the least [http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/show/3256/the-art-of-stored-procedure-optimization-last-but-not-the-least ]

Hope that will be helpful. Kindly let us know if you face any difficulty in understanding.

Thanks.

Few key points for improving the performance in SQL Server.

1, Don't use Cursor
2, Avoid bigger loops
3, Try to avoid Clustered Stored Procedures.
4, Use index wisely
5, Always Primary Key column will be the first condition in where.
