Why thread is required in C#, please provide the real time example.

How many of thread are there.

Can you explain Thread functionality?

Threads improve performance. They move computations to a separate logical processor. I see the real time example in Client and server chatting network machines where mostly threading will be used in real time. Types like background, volatile and interlocked etc. Thread runs asynchronisationally where one user waits to complete another request to complete the task. Hope it helps you.
