1-TIER AND 2-TIER ARCHITECTURE

I have got no clue what 1-tier and 2-tier architecture is?? i have only used 3-tier architecture..can anybody explain in detail..

@vuyiswamb: i went throu' your articles..in 3-tier and 1-tier architecture both,we have 3 layers-data,business and presentation..then what's the difference between 3-tier and 1-tier architecture??

I suppose 1-Tier is a architecture that does not have Tier. Its the same as writting your Database(DAL) code in your asp.net page or windows form and the business validation(BLL) is the same place. and 2-Tier is difference , you might have your Validation in your pages and and have a Data Layer and that means your asp.net pages(PL) 1 and Data Layer 2(DAL). and if you have a 3-Tier you will have the PL(asp.net pages or windows form) + BLL(business logic classes when you do you business logic validations) + DAL(Data Access layer , where you connect to the Database.

As have seen my articles are N -Tier N stands for any number, i even present the advantages of the N-Tier Architecture.
