Try following article

http://www.dotnetfunda.com/tutorials/ajax/updateprogress.aspx

Or if you want to go for JavaScript, see this

This in your body:

<SCRIPT style="text/javascript">

document.write('<DIV id="loading"><BR><BR>Please wait...</DIV>');
window.onload=function(){
document.getElementById("loading").style.display="none";
}
</SCRIPT>

And some kind of css in your head like:

<STYLE type="text/css">

<!--
#loading {
width: 200px;
height: 100px;
background-color: #c0c0c0;
position: absolute;
left: 50%;
top: 50%;
margin-top: -50px;
margin-left: -100px;
text-align: center;
}
-->
</STYLE>
