Hi,

I need to take an Back up of DB from sql server 2008 management studio

I used the below query

BACKUP DATABASE DB1 TO DISK='Localpath\db.bak'

This works fine in local server, but when I execute the same code in server
I am getting error as

Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot open backup device 'D:\DB.bak'. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.).

Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Kindly let me know how to solve this issue...
Thanks in advance

Resolved
for sure,

I got this error because the folder in which i am writing the backup file is write protected by the administrator of the server,

So if we got the permission and authorization to write the .bak file in the particular folder it would work...

Thanks for the above responses...

Hi Sathya,

As written in the email your account deesn't have necessary permission of accessing the D: drive. Try to get full permission for the account you are logging with and try again. Hope this would work.

Thanks

Just give the full permissions to the respective folder for the user NETWORK SERVICE. So, you can take the back up.
