Hello,
I was reading articles on Serialization. I have understood the concept quite Ok...however, my point is when should we use Serialization.Rather in which instances Serialization be used? Please help me with a example.

Also, Encrption and Decryption which we usually do is there any similarity between these concept and Serialization?

Best Regards,
Rohan Laghate

Hi Rohan,

Serialization is generally used to store the data in the string/text format (depending on which serializer you are using). It is particularly useful when you are transmitting the data over web (like web services, wcf services etc.).

For more you can visit http://www.dotnetfunda.com/interview/exam3957-what-is-serialization-.aspx

Hope this helps.

Hello Rohan,

Whenever an object is to be sent over the network, and
moreover if the state of an object is to be saved, objects
need to be serialized...

Thanks

Hi,

Say take an example of using webservice over the network to send the serialized object then we need to serialzie and send it at that time we use it.

Also one more example is if you read an xml and want to serialzie like an object and use it then you go for serialization and then after format then you can deserialize and send it back as XML

Thanks
Karthik
