How to show long string value in dotted format

Hello all,
i have a problem with string ....i.e . i have inserted some text using html editor , there is more than 10-15 line .... now while i am getting this value and show , this string value must be show for eg.

" The Indian sub-continent has come to a stand still. And no one seems to be doing anything else but eating, sleeping and drinking cricket. ......."
the remaing values in dotted and while i am clicking view more complete text should be shown...
