You can simply use a <a> with runat="server".
or hyperlink
    <a id="mylnk" runat="server"  >Download</a>

OR
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink1" runat="server">HyperLink</asp:HyperLink>

And on page intialization assign the path
 mylnk.HRef = "<FilePath/abc.doc>" ;

HyperLink1.NavigateUrl = "<FilePath/abc.doc>" ;

Hi

There is no proper asp.net control that shows a word in webpage itself. One way you use an iframe to do so but these days its not used.

Take a look at the link http://forums.asp.net/t/1310978.aspx
