What does x86, x64 and ia64 mean in .NET framework?

Hi i just came across terms like x86, x64 and ia64 and i would like to know how these support the framework and what they do basically i.e. their functioning.

Actually these are the Processor Family Name that .Net framework should target.

Like A machine having Intel Xeon processor is x64.
Inel Core 2 Duo 32bit is x86.
