i m fresher to sql server can anybody tell me what is the function of cursor ?

& how can it is used ?

Cursors are Evil, they should be the last resort. I mean they are Slow and if not written well they can cause timeouts on the System. this how they are used.

A cursor is a set of rows together with a pointer that identifies a current row.

Cursors are very slow in process so avoid unless and until needed.
