What is the exact mean of silverlight why we use it

Silverlight is Microsoft implementation of Web 2.0. Concept Web 2.0 means building Rich Internet Applications. Its actually a browser plugin, which loads your application directly just similar to Flash Adobe Air.

It uses XAML to define the UI, which makes your web application to work just like windows .
