Confused about the meaning of T

Hi,
I really have confusion over one thing. Can anyone clear for me what is the meaning of T in IQuerable<T> and IEnumerable<T> . I do understand it means it is of type T. but excatly dont understand. Can any one please elaborate to make things more clear and understandable.
