decimal d = decimal.Parse("12.50");

Or

decimal d = decimal.Parse("12.00", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture);

Decimal.parse may not work in all the cases

Please go through this 

public static decimal ToDecimal(

	string value

)



example

decimalVal = System.Convert.ToDecimal(stringVal);

)
