New connection error ,Pull method

Hai Techies
I have a created a crystal report using pull method using new connection while crating a connection the name of the database is not displayed
It shows an error message
I have given server name as (.)

Logon failed
Details:Ado Error code :0x80040e4d
Source:Ms OLEDB db provider for sql server
Description:Logon failed for user username
Sql state :4200
Native Error:18456[Db vendor code:18456]

What does it means

What is meaning of userid
