Character count of a cell

I need to count the character entered in a cell of excel while typing itself(not moving out of the cell). If it reaches a certain amount of data I need to show the message to the user that he has typed these much of words.

I can use VBA for this. It can be possible only if we have key press event of a cell in excel. Any one has tried out this? If yes, please help me out...

The links that you have provided explains about "how to count the characters in a cell", and this one I already knew.

I need to show a message to the user while typing itself, if he/she crosses a limit of characters(say 900 characters). How can we do this?

Even VBA code is acceptable.
