What is Windows Azure?

I have seen so many articles and google's search results.

Can anyone please tell what is Windows Azure and why it's being used?

Ok Windows Azure is a Cloud service operating System that Developers all over the world can Host their Application as Production , Or for test purposes. This cloud operating system is provided by Microsoft and hosted on their servers , so you would not worry with things like performances , because your clients or anyone using your application will be accessing Microsoft Datacentre's

This is not only for .NET Developers , but it support many other languages like Java and Ruby. You can still use your normal visual studio to create the apps. if i get time , i will write an article about Windows Azure.

Windows Azure apps are hosted as a service.
