Dotnet has language independence and now they are having platform independence too (mono project), while java has only platform independence ?
Can anyone tell me what is the status of competition between Dotnet and java right now?
I am presently working in a Dotnet domain, which is better java or Dotnet ?

Please share some light on this.
Thanks and Regards
Akiii

Comparing between dotnet and Java is always difficult.. Since in some respects Dotnet is better than Java and in some respects Java is better.
SO it all depends on you on which technology you are good at to continue long.

If you like the rich UI and drag & drop features then go for .NET else... java is there.

Of course there were many other side effects of .NET when compared against PRICING.
1. It's NOT free
2. Requires Win family server
3. OpenSource operating systems currently cannot HOST ur .NET apps.

Advantages of .NET against JAVA
1. Find more support on-line
2. Rich controls to handle any kind of requirement
3. User friendly

Thanks,
Ravi

@Madhu and @Ravi......Thank you for your replies.

Yes it is true, it is we to decide what technology we work upon. But what is the job market of Dotnet now ?

Hi Naimish, you are working in which domain ?
If you are saying about open source then Microsoft is also getting into open source.

Thanks
