How, why and when to use Javascript in C#

Hi i need to get to acquainted with the use and purpose of javascript in c# and how the coding happens. I am new to JavaScript
and tried to learn from resources available in internet but i couldn't find anything which would be suitable for a beginner like me.
I am confused with the coding: where to insert it etc and also the theory parts.It would be grateful if anyone would provide the details of materials/books or something briefly thats easily understandable.
