why mozilla doesnot support onunload event?

i have written javascript on onbeforeunload event in the body tag.
this event calls in internet explorer ,but doesn't calls in mozilla why?
is there any other way to call this event in mozilla?

Abhi,

An event that fires before the unload event when the page is unloaded.

use,
window.onbeforeunload, it works on FF and IE but not in Safari (This is bug in webkit based browsers e.g. safari.)
