Why static indexers are not there in c#?

Hello i would like to know about static indexers. It is written that static indexers show compilation error in C#. But i couldnt find the proper reasoning for that anywhere. Anyone plz help me. I also want to get some basic knowledge about indexers in a simple way. Its mentioned they are 'smart arrays' so are they similar to arrays?or what is the difference and advantage of using indexers compared to arrays?I am sorry i knw am asking too many questions at a shot. But need help ASAP.!! Thank u!!
