Hi,

Let me clarify some points.
There is no relation with MVC and Xp service pack 3. Actually a relation has between Visual studio and OS (xp or windows 7). If you want to install VS2010 then XP service pack 3 is mandatory. But you will feel better with Windows 7 and VS2010.

If VS2008 is already installed and now you want to install MVC extension, just try to install that MVC extension. It will notify you that XP SP3 is mandatory or not.

Just Try ..

Thanks,
Arefin

Hi Arefin,
Thanks for your reply.

I like to go with Win XP OS and Visual Studio 2008
(i found Win XP + SP 3 is required for MVC)

http://www.microsoft.com/web/gallery/install.aspx?appid=VWDorVS2010SP1Pack
System requirements:
Supported Operating Systems are Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows XP SP3+, Windows Server 2003 SP2+, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2.
You must have a live Internet connection.
You must have administrator privileges on your computer to run the Web Platform Installer.

But i want to know whether i have to install Visual Studio 2008 again after installing SP3
