Microsoft Azure is an example of a public cloud. With a public cloud, all hardware, software and other supporting infrastructure are owned and managed by the cloud provider. In a public cloud, you share the same hardware, storage and network devices with other organisations or cloud “tenants”.

Introduction

Azure Public Cloud is a cloud computing service developed by Microsoft for creating, executing, testing and maintaining services and applications through a global network of   data centers.

future of Cloud is bright and it is going to play a crucial role, not only the business world but also in our day-to-day life. cloud computing will surely land you in an area where opportunities are abundant. Azure certification plays a major role in becoming a cloud-computing professional.

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing can be defined as a collection of computing resources where different services and applications along with servers and storage are provided to different organizations and companies through the internet. In cloud computing context a cloud is used as a synonym for internet. So cloud computing can also be called internet-based computing.

Public Cloud:

Public cloud is defined as computing services provided by external vendors over the internet. These services are available to anyone who is in need of them. They may be free of cost or sold to customers depending on usage of storage, processor and bandwidth. Public clouds reduce the expenses of buying, managing and maintaining infrastructure and in-office hardware since the cloud service provider helps in the maintenance and management of the whole system.

Private cloud:

In contrast to the public cloud, private cloud is defined as computing services provided to only one single organization which are not sharable. Unlike public clouds, private clouds are expensive since they involve in-office hardware and infrastructure. However, the organizations show control on using the private clouds thus minimizing the expenses.

Hybrid cloud:

Hybrid cloud is a mixture of using both public and private clouds accordingly.

Community cloud:

In community clouds, one can share the computing services with other belonging to same area or community. These clouds can be of both in and out office premises.

As said in the beginning, Azure Public Cloud or Windows Azure is a public cloud service developed by Microsoft in 2010. The azure public cloud provides a wide range of cloud computing services for networks, storage and analytics where the customers or users can select the services to build and manage new applications or deploy the on-hand applications through the public cloud.

Generally, the public cloud can be categorized based on the service model. They are

Software as Service (SaaS) - in this the external vendors provide the applications or software to the customers through the internet.

Platform as Service (PaaS) - in this the external vendors provide software and hardware tools as a service which is needed to develop applications.

Infrastructure as service (IaaS) - in this the third-party or external vendors provide virtual infrastructure like databases and virtual machines through the internet.

Azure Public cloud is generally considered as both Infrastructures as service and platform as a service provider.
