Hello all,
I am trying to write my own forum application and Ive stumbled upon a bit of a probem with dates and times. Like most forums, when a registered user is logged in and writes a new post or replies to an existing message, the time of the post is saved to the database and is then displayed to all users who read the post. Pretty simple concept until you realize that if the time is saved in eastern time and a visitor from ...lets say california...views the page, then the post appears that it was made 3 hours into the future for that user. Registerd members have a time-offset option in their forum settings that allow them to adjust the times displayed in the forums so that all times are local to them....got it, get it, good.
But what about guest visiting the site. Guest arent registered members and therefore dont have an offset specified for displaying forum dates and times.
I was wondering ...
