Dynanically created LinkButton in table reports too large for typcicaly page_init preload

I have a table that holds gereated reports based on various dripdown choices.  Some of the reports need/have linkbuttons to move to other reports.  May of these reports are just too big to build in page_init to gain access to the properly created buttons to work on post_back.  How are you guys handling scenarios like this?
