Need Help Deciphering A Tutorial

Hi All,
First off I am using Visual Basic and Microsoft SQL Server.
I am trying to implement some script from a tutorial, here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730836(VS.80).aspx
The difference between the tutorial and what I need is I have a webapp I want to get the geocode xml and append that data into a sql database. What I think I need:
1. Create a holding spot for the xml of the lat and long on my submit.aspx page
2. Query the webpage (Geocoder.us) that gets the geocode on submit of my webform and have that Geocoder.us ...
