Noob question regarding Sql.
I have a table that contains a large string (lets say up to 5000) characters. Only a percentage of rows use the string - so should I move it to another table and create a relationship or will sql manage the storage effectively? By 'effectively', I mean is it going to allocate a 5000 character string space for each row regardless if its empty or not.
