ModalPopup + validation controls problem

I am calling a modalpopup from the masterpage and hiding the modalpopup OnClick event of a asp button(codebehind). But button's click event handler is not executing due to validation controls on the child page. how to call button click event handler bypassing validation controls. Please help...
