Integrating Remoting into existing application

I had built an application with the idea of using web services to interface the business layer after the fact. I ended up using a lot of generics as return objects and, as I understand, generics are not compatible with web services so now I am looking at remoting. Is it relatively straight forward to integrate remoting into an existing application such as this?
