Bound repeater not showing anything in .ascx during runtime

I bound a repeater in my User Control.But when the page renders nothing is shown. 
I stepped through
during compile time to make sure that the repeaters data source is
wired up and showing records in code-behind and it is.  It's just not
showing anything in runtime.
The Markup in the User Control has the repeater defined as so:
<td align="left">
<asp:Repeater ID="rptApplicationsSelected" runat="server" />
