I need to copy my production database to a test database on the same SQLexpress instance. Other forum posts refer to a 'copy database' option which I don't see in the SSMS for 2012. When I create a backup of database Company and attempt to restore with
replace as CompanyTest it tells me that the underlying .mdf is being used by the production company.
One post says " restore it with a different name for the database and make sure to change the database file
names." Whatever I do, the original .mdf and .ldf names seem to remain associated during the restore and trip things up. I've also tried Restore From Disk with Move without success although I'm not sure of the proper syntax (is it MOVE 'Company'
to '...\data\Company.mdf'?)
