How to perssist the page number and sort order of the gridview when it rebinds after update process.

Working Scenario:
I am working on a Gridview where I have implemented sorting and paging features.
Issues:
1). When I migrate from "edit mode" to normal mode and gridview rebinds then the gridview displays the first page instead of the current page on which user was working. For instance if I am working on page 2 of gridview and I update any of the record on this page, now when gridview rebinds it displays the page 1 instead of page 2 for the very obvious reason that I am not managing the current page number after the update when gridview rebinds.
2). Same is the case with sorting. "I want the gridview to perssist the page number and sort order after it rebinds".
