After quite a bit of searching (maybe the wrong places!) and not finding answers, I'll have to post the question on this forum.
I have a website using forms authentication by means of ASP.NET. Works great, no complaints. I know I can use the API to create and maintain users and roles, - for example with Membership.CreateUser("peter","password"). However, this only works directly when I'm writing code directly from the website. I would like to do it from a web service, which runs on a different domain. But how do I go about the declaration of connection, provider, and those things?
Note that I do not wish to protect my web service application with forms authentication - I want to use the web service to create a user for forms authentication on a different website. All user control is in a SQL Server database, and connection to this is no problem for the service. My doubt is how I create users and roles on a remote application, i.e. not the one ...
