As title suggests, I have a page where the user can press a button and information is returned to them.

If however, the user was pressing the button too many times (say for example 5 times in 5 minutes), is there any way I can disable their access to this button for a short period of time (say for another 5 minutes)?

This is mainly when a user is browsing this page anonymously - I am trying to prevent them from hammering the database.

I am guessing here maybe: Get the User's IP, run a count or while on the number of times they have pressed they button and if the count is exceeds 5 then ... (I'm stuck :P) ... then display user message that they must wait 5 minutes and begin countdown...
I'm also thinking here this may be a session thing, as what if the user browses away from the page then tries to come back and try again before 5 minutes is up?

Can anyone help out?
