SQL Server Express - Third party Download Manager

Thanks to Microsoft for making available free SQL Server Express Edition.  However it requires a third party Download Manager.  I can't trust a third party application.  I can trust only Microsoft Site.  Why a third party application is required to download a Microsoft product such as SQL Server Express Edition?  Is there a direct method such as 'Save Target As'? Please help. ...
