If you have a asp:DropDownList object on a master page, what's the best way to persist it's selected index between different client pages? I've got it working ok if I set it to AutoPostBack=true, but I don't like how it refreshes the page. If I turn off the AutoPostBack, then the OnSelectedIndexChanged does not fire, and I loose the status when I go to a new page. (I am a novice web developer so the answer may well be very basic!)
