Trying to build a class (newbie here)

I have several pages that have need this same functionality.  I currently have this sub on each of the pages which makes managing the code difficult so I thought I'd create a class to maintain it in one place.  I understand from some research that i've done that you can't reference textboxes and controls from within a class .. is this so?  Here is what I'm trying to do .. please forgive the basics of the code!
