Linking Access MDB to SQL Server

Hi, I'd like to connect several Access and Excel applications to SQL Server databases to take my clients to the next level with a modest enhancement. It would be simple if I could expose SQL Server to the web, but this seems out of the question for security reasons.

I plan to make a client .NET app that calls a web service (which queries SQL Server and passes back a DataSet) and then updates� an� MDB on the client workstation, for instance to get the latest version of data to report on.

Do you see problems, or suggest a better approach? Thanks!
