I am a developer but new to the Microsoft and web application development technologies. I have studied the architecture at length and now is the time to try something and connect all the dots. Following are my questions:

1. Is there a 'Hello World' type application that I can write to emulate all aspects of a web application, involving a database server, a web server, a browser and most important, an application server or the busines layer? Can someone direct me to a tutorial which help me actually establish such a scenario?
