Saving files in the web server

For managing files or documents that revised by time, I have used upload control that save these files varbinary(max) in the database, now my question is "is necessary saving files in the web server also" what is the best solution for managing files or documents that revised by time, I mean for example file "dw-001.pdf  has been revised 3 times like below:
Dw-001 rev1 Dw-001 rev2 Dw-001 rev3 When I save in the database i have no problem. If I want to save these also in the web server what should be structure of folders.
