I find that if a textbox an an input/update form contains text such as <robert.barnes@xtra.co.nz>, then the program fails.   There are dozens (perhaps hundreds) of such textboxes throught my web site, and I had thought that a textbox would behave the obvious way, with the data entered being handled exactly as entered, not interpreted as HTML, XML, etc.
Is there a property that I can set that will treat any text in the textbox simply as text, as it is in this edit box in this forum? Or should I use a control other than a textbox?  Thus if the user types &amp then I do not want this changed to an ampersand, I do not want the text as above treated as an email, it is all just a sequence of characters.
In many cases the text has come directly from the database.  It displays correctly with <robert.barnes@xtra.co.nz> retrieved from the database, but then the page fails on any action except Back.
Thank you, Robert Barnes
