I have a need to license our 3.5 web application on the basis of concuurent users logged in to the website. I have looked at various recommendations but none seem to address the issue of users not logging off nicely.
When a user closes the browser session end event is not triggered and the user is considered active until the session expires. This makes it unacceptable for the licensing model required.
One suggestion has been to 'ping'user information to the server from javascript, creating a heartbeat to show the user is active - I have not been ablle to get this working primarily becuause the particulare application event (preexecute) does not have a handle on the session object.
If any one has successfully gone down this rocky road, advice would be much appreciated
