When builting the GenericPrincipal object, does it have to be in the Application_AuthenticateRequest method of the Global.asax? Reason i'm asking is because that gets hit everyting somone comes any page, so you're always update the value, can it be anywhere else? I'm using FormsAuthentication, and noticed that after I do FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLogin(...) that's when the ticket is created and the user is authenticated, but I also wanted to set the user's Role, doing it before the RedirectFromLogin didn't work, the page didn't pick up the role. But doing it as i've seen on tutorials in the global.asax worked, but debugging showed it was hit on every page, just wanted to see if there is a way around having it in global.
