I am attempting to build a database and a search routine. I am thinking to create different table to host specific records of documents and name the table with a generic name according to the documents each will contain per table. For example, education table will contain documents relate to education topic and technology table will contain documents related to technology subjects. These documents could be either in pdf or word document stored in Sql db 2005. I am wanting to further create a search routine in Asp.net, either C# or Vb.net. The user is would type in any word or phrase to match against topic name and retrieve a list of related topic in a grid where user can select one that is preferential to be displayed.
I am thinking that I should make topic column unique, since it is by this that users will be searching. I am also storing these record with an automatic generation of primary key, which means that I am making two unique keys but with one primary. Am I rig ...
