Hi,
I am in the process of developing a logistics application. One of the pages includes a trip builder where users can add available trips to a trip planner. This does a number of things such as calculate total cost and distance of the journey.
As performance is particularly important I resisted the tempation to simply use Update panels for this task and instead have constructed the requests using jQuery.
The trips contained in the trip planner are stored in a session object (similar to how you might store items in a shopping cart). When an available trip is clicked, it calls a web service that adds the trip to the TripCollection of the session object:

[WebMethod (EnableSession=true)] public bool AddTripToPlanner(int tripID) { Trip trip = TripManager.GetTripByID(tripID); if (trip != null) { TripManager.AddTripToPlanner(trip); return true; ...

Go to the complete details ...
